American Composers' Choral Festival

The American Composers' Choral Festival began in 2010 and celebrates the music of American composers. We invite a composer to conduct a choir comprised of The Harrisburg Singers, local church choirs, and guest high school choirs. Our next festival is being planned for Spring 2029. The Harrisburg Singers were honored to host the following composers at our previous American Composers' Choral Festivals:

2010 - Mr. K. Lee Scott

2012 - Dr. Mack Wilberg

2014 - Dr. Robert Lau

2016 - Mr. Craig Courtney

2018 - Mr. Mark Hayes

2023 - Dr. Mack Wilberg

2026 - Dr. René Clausen

I had the distinct pleasure of serving as the guest composer/conductor for The American Composers Choral Festival. It is an outstanding choral ensemble led by and reflective of the inspiring musical and passionate energy of Susan Beckley. Her Singers were a joy to work with exuding not only technical excellence, but also presenting a consistently positive and motivating rehearsal atmosphere. What a festival of great music making!

I love the intergenerational aspect featuring the inclusion of two fine high school choirs with local church choirs and The Harrisburg Singers. The varied program made it a musical treat for singers and audience alike. This festival speaks highly of the community’s support of the fine arts and the musical excellence of its choral groups.
